As we release this video presentation from the 2012 ceremony, the judges are thinking ahead to this year’s contest, which will see awards presented for the people, products and premises that are helping to transform healthcare in the UK and further afield.
The 2012 event saw a record number of entries, with 14 trophies handed out to the winners in six classes reflecting the very best in healthcare estates design and medical technologies. And we expect another bumper year for 2013.
We will open for entries on 1 March, with the judges and organisers currently deciding on the categories that will best reflect the changes currently taking place within the marketplace.
Categories are likely to focus primarily on building design and the patient environment, but will also pay increasing attention to the technologies and products that are playing an ever more important role in the delivery of world-class health services.
The closing date for nominations will be 1 July 2013, allowing 20 weeks for entrants to put submissions together.
The judges will then begin the tough task of sifting through the entries to find those that best match the criteria and set a benchmark for future healthcare delivery.
We will then announce the winners at a plush ceremony in November.
The newly-released video round-up of 2012 shows the impact of the awards, which are widely recognised to be among the most well respected in the sector.
A representative for the Houghton Primary Care Centre in Sunderland, which picked up the Award for Innovation in Sustainability , said after the ceremony: “The BBH Awards are the premier awards for this industry so it has been fantastic to get this.
“It has been a great day and well worth the journey down.”
