Nuffield Health, the UK’s largest healthcare charity, has contracted Vanguard to design, build, and install two theatres at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital.
The UK-based healthcare infrastructure provider used modern methods of construction for the build of the two theatre facility.
This new capacity helps to meet the needs of patients from the local community. This includes people needing joint replacements, spinal care, prostate, gynaecology, and women’s health services.
These facilities include two laminar flow theatres with enhanced scrub areas, two anaesthetic rooms, two recovery rooms, staff welfare areas, spacious corridors, office space, and restrooms.

As part of the construction, more parking spaces have also been created at the hospital site in Stockton-on-Tees.
Chris Blackwell-Frost, Vanguard Healthcare Solutions CEO, said: “Using modern methods of construction provided a faster, more environmentally friendly, less disruptive and more cost-effective alternative to traditional building methods for Nuffield Tees Hospital.”
Alex Perry, CEO of Nuffield Health, said: “One of our objectives at Nuffield Health is to provide the best possible care, the best care you can get anywhere. Part of that is making sure that the facilities in which we care for our patients are absolutely the best possible. The theatres look fabulous. The space, the light, the modern equipment; really something special.”

Nuffield Health operates a network of private hospitals and healthcare facilities across the UK.
Opening these theatres has allowed Tees Hospital to expand elective capacity, helping to reduce the NHS waiting list and providing facilities for a wider range of vital surgical activities.
