A topping-out ceremony marked a key milestone in the development of a new 77-bed care home in Banstead.
Banstead Manor Care Home is being built at a cost of £8m on a one-acre site in Brighton Road by specialist care contractor, Lawrence Baker.
It will provide residential and dementia care delivered by Hallmark Care Homes.
The site’s construction team was joined recently by Hallmark Care Homes’ managing director, Ram Goyal; and the Mayor, Councillor Dorothy Ross-Tomlin, to mark the next stage of the build as the last roof tile was officially laid.
When open, the home will provide a spacious, luxurious and sociable environment where family members are encouraged to participate in activities and spend time with their loved ones.
Facilities will include a state-of-the-art cinema, hairdressing salon, therapy room, and a café. Each bedroom will be elegantly furnished and will have an en-suite bathroom. Those on the ground floor will also have access to their own patio.
Other communal areas will include an interactive kitchen where residents can assist in the preparation of meals, and landscaped gardens designed by the late award-winning landscape architect, David Fountain.
Goyal said: “We are really excited to be opening a new care home in Banstead and look forward to providing high-quality relationship-centred care to the community.
“Our new home will provide residents with a place where they feel safe and supported to live an active and fulfilled life.”
Banstead Manor is scheduled to open its doors to its first residents in spring next year.
