Southmead car park open for business

Published: 16-Mar-2011

A NEW multi-storey car park has opened at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, providing 200 additional spaces. The first of the new hospital buildings to be completed, the Beaufort Car Park has more than 300 spaces for patients and visitors. Martin Warren, manager of the rebuild project, which aims to see a new hospital open on the site in 2014, said: "We know that parking at Southmead has been difficult over the last year-and-a-half as we moved spaces around and demolished buildings to clear the site. The opening of this new facility means we now have more public spaces at Southmead than ever before. This should considerably improve things for patients and visitors coming to the hospital by car." The opening of the new car park sees the closure of the temporary public facility at the junction of Monks Park Way, Dorian Way and Tyndalls Way.
