Polyflor has just announced that a selection of its market-leading Polysafe flooring products have been chosen for the recently-refurbished Stirling Ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
Last month saw the opening of Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's newest ward, which has been specifically designed to meet the needs of older patients who are frail and severely unwell.
The Stirling Ward assesses and provides timely and holistic care to patients to help them live better with frailty and continue their lives.
To uplift the interior environment, more than 700sq m of Polysafe Hydro Evolve in the Amazon shade and Polysafe Modena PUR in Gypsum was installed throughout circulation areas, WC areas and bedrooms by Unlimited Flooring of Stocksbridge. The flooring chosen was used to enhance the design of the clutter-free and bright dementia-friendly environment, while also providing the required sustainable slip-resistance for patients and staff at all times.
Steve Brunyee of the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The appearance and underfoot safety of the flooring was of paramount importance for the specified combination of decorative flooring in the new ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. Polysafe Hydro Evolve and Polysafe Modena PUR have provided the required design, safety and durability for this specialist dementia-friendly environment.”
Polysafe Hydro Evolve is ideal for continually wet/barefoot areas within commercial and recreational settings such as walk-in showers and indoor pool surrounds. Meeting HSE and UK Slip Group Guidelines to deliver sustained slip resistance throughout the guaranteed life of the product, Hydro Evolve also achieves 36+ on the RRL Pendulum wet test with a surface roughness of 20 microns and above. It also adheres to EN 13845 – the European standard for safety flooring.
Polysafe Modena PUR also adheres to the safety flooring standard, conforming fully to HSE and UK Slip Group Guidelines. The clear particles embedded within the product are virtually invisible to the naked eye and create a rougher, harder friction surface to ‘bite’ into the sole of footwear, ensuring the necessary long term slip resistance is achieved.
All Polysafe vinyl flooring is 100% recyclable via the Recofloor recycling scheme and contains recycled content.
