A new framework agreement is set to make the provision and maintenance of car parking simpler and cheaper for hospitals and health centres.
The Car Park Management and Infrastructure framework agreement, managed by NHS Shared Business Services, has been designed to be a comprehensive one-stop solution for all car parking needs.
With over 30 suppliers across 10 lots, the framework covers everything from car park construction and design through to management; electric car charging points; pay-on-foot machines, cycle parking, and more.
As the first truly-comprehensive, OJEU-compliant framework in this area, the agreement can be accessed free of charge by all UK-based public sector organisations, including local authorities, educational institutions, housing associations and the emergency services as well as the NHS.
And organisations have the option of making a direct award to a supplier of their choice, or running a mini-competition to assist in the selection process and drive additional benefits.
The new framework supports The Road to Zero – the Government’s green agenda – by providing electric vehicle charging and cycle parking infrastructure. It also aligns with HTM 07-03 supporting NHS car parking management by providing guidance on sustainable transport, car park management and car park equipment.
Phil Davies, director of procurement at NHS Shared Business Services, said: “We’ve listened to the needs of both the NHS and wider public sector when setting up this framework agreement, and we’re pleased it’s one of the most-comprehensive and forward-thinking available, with an emphasis on carbon savings with a lot for electrical vehicle charging and the UK’s first nationwide framework to cover cycle parking.”
