Cumbria hospital revamp approved

Published: 25-May-2011

Redevelopment of the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, Cumbria, has moved a step closer after the full business case was approved by the trust's board. North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust (NCUH) will now forward the document to NHS Cumbria and NHS North West for approval and commissioner support. Kevin Clarkson, NCUH deputy chief executive, said: "Subject to strategic health authority approval, the full business case will then be submitted for final approval by the Department of Health. It is anticipated that building work on the new main build will begin in October."
