Outdated building to be replaced by sustainable new facility

Chiswick is set to receive a new health centre, with construction due to start by the end of the year following an investment of £23m by the NHS.

The upgraded Chiswick Health Centre will be built on the existing site and will replace the current structure, which will be demolished as part of the works, led by Willmott Dixon.

NHS Property Services and the North West London Integrated Care System are partnering with Hounslow Council to complete the redevelopment, working collaboratively to deliver the new centre.

In addition to the new health centre, the development will also include 55 affordable apartments.

The space will be a key hub for 60,000 Chiswick patients, and with the final contracts now signed, and services temporarily relocated to Stamford Brook Avenue, demolition and construction can begin.

Adrian Powell, director of investment and development management at NHS Property Services, said: “The new centre will offer Chiswick residents a state-of-the-art facility that, to its core, is sustainable and modern.

“Through our partnership, we will be able to help health professionals deliver the care that patients deserve in space that is fit for purpose.”

The redevelopment will include a public community garden, a private landscaped courtyard, and a fifth-floor garden terrace, in addition to 55 new affordable housing units designated for key health workers.

The updated facility will also include modernised consultation and examination rooms, community areas, district nurse facilities, and staff accommodation.

The development will utilise sustainable, low-energy technologies, reducing carbon emissions by half.

Doctor Venkatesham of Chiswick Family Doctors, one of three GP clinics that will operate from the site, said: “For several years we have felt that the existing building is badly in need of repair and modernisation.

“We are very much looking forward to providing more and varied services for the community in Chiswick with better facilities housed in comfortable, modern premises fit for the future.”
