Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust latest to select Expenses Health to manage staff expenses

Software Europe has added the 150th NHS customer to its cloud-based staff expenses service, Expenses Health.

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust joins 21 other NHS customers in the last six months alone to subscribe to Expenses Health to manage staff expenses and reduce expenses costs.

Software Europe’s NHS customers also include 25 newly-formed clinical commissioning groups and four clinical support units. The number of NHS customers selecting the cloud service in the past six months to September is double the contract wins from the same period last year. Similarly, the company’s turnover is 18% higher than the same period last year.

Expenses Health is now supporting 770,000 NHS employee expense claims and continues to be the most widely-deployed expenses cloud service in the NHS.

Deborah Saunby, sales director at Software Europe, said: “Expenses Health is proving a massive success in the NHS because of its ability to deliver much-needed cost savings and rapid return on investment.

“The NHS spends around 80% of its expenses budget on mileage - a figure that Expenses Health is designed to reduce by up to 20%.”

Software Europe’s cloud-based Expenses Health saves money and resources by enabling submission and approval of claims online and via mobile apps; mileage validation checks, NHS rules-based calculations, and seamless integration with NHS ESR (Electronic Staff Record) for managing the entire expenses process through to payment accurately and efficiently. Claimants’ benefit too from a quicker and simpler expenses system, linked to their company’s policy, which improves claim accuracy ensuring faster reimbursement, with track-able progress and minimal fuss.

Paul Green, deputy director of finance at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We wanted to reduce the costs associated with a paper process for claiming travel and expenses and Expenses Health fitted our specification.”

Saunby added: “We are continuing to forecast another really strong year of new NHS organisations choosing to work with us to reduce their expense-related costs, hopefully adding a further 70-80 other NHS trusts along with helping more of the largest clinical commissioning groups.”

The company is also seeing interest for its new cloud service, ER-Tracker, which simplifies often-complex processes for employee HR case management – such as absence, grievance or disciplinary.
