Simons Group has announced the appointment of Tom Robinson as the company’s new chief executive.
Robinson is an experienced executive who has operated across a range of property and facilities-related activities having trained as a construction manager which he supplemented with an MBA. He will begin the role as of today.
The company will remain a private, family-owned business, with the style and the philosophy within the company’s way of working being fully preserved. Paul Hodgkinson will remain as group executive chairman, with Philip Hodgkinson continuing as deputy chairman. Both will remain on the group board and will continue in a supporting role to the business.
The new chief executive will reinforce the Simons ethos for a partnership way of working, the importance of people and their development in alignment with the company’s corporate values; to continually improve the business offer and financial standing while driving health and safety in daily practice.
Hodgkinson said: “This is an important and planned step for the business. We are confident with the appointment and wish Tom every success in leading Simons into the future. We have every faith that everyone at Simons will continue to support him in the way they have done with myself and Philip and we are sure that Tom’s skills will enhance our aim of being an excellent property solutions business.”
Tom’s most-recent role was with Carillion, where he was the chief sustainability officer for the whole group, having previously run facilities management and construction activities across a variety of sectors including telecommunications and defence.
He said of the appointment: “I am delighted to have been entrusted with the stewardship and progression of Simons, which has been a business I have admired for many years having grown up in Lincoln. It is a great opportunity to build on the strong platform provided by two generations of Hodgkinsons and lead the business through its next chapter of development and growth. ”
