MTX Contracts has been awarded a contract to deliver an extension to the Lincoln Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), following the successful completion of the original facility in late 2024.
“This appointment reflects the Trust’s continued confidence in our expertise and our ability to deliver high-quality healthcare facilities that make a real difference to patients,” said David Hartley, Managing Director at MTX Contracts.
The extension will support planned care and additional diagnostic services, helping to increase capacity and reduce waiting times for patients across Lincolnshire.
The project has been commissioned by United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (ULTH).
Features of the expansion
Constructed using modern methods of construction (MMC), the extension will be formed from precisely engineered structural steel units manufactured offsite and craned into position alongside the existing centre.
The approach is intended to minimise disruption while accelerating delivery.
The scope of works includes the construction of a new linkway connecting the extension to the current CDC, as well as associated drainage and groundworks across the site.
MTX previously delivered the Lincoln CDC alongside a second community diagnostic centre in Skegness, with both projects completed concurrently using MMC.
The centres were designed to reflect local healthcare needs and provide a broad range of diagnostic services and clinical pathways, including CT and MRI scanning, X-rays and blood testing.
Since opening in December 2024, the Lincoln CDC has delivered more than 76,000 diagnostic tests, helping to relieve pressure on acute hospital sites across the Trust.
The new extension is expected to further improve access to services and enable faster, more convenient appointments for patients.
MTX is a Cheshire-based construction and engineering company specialising in MMC solutions for the NHS and private healthcare sector.
The company has worked in partnership with the NHS for more than 40 years, delivering specialist facilities including over 300 operating theatres and 2,500 compliant bed spaces.
Its MMC approach, aligned with Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) principles, is designed to reduce waste, shorten programmes and improve build quality through offsite manufacture.
Other CDC projects by MTX
The Lincoln CDC extension follows a series of recent community diagnostic centre projects delivered by MTX.
These include the completion of a new CDC at Milford Community Hospital in Surrey, built using modern methods of construction to provide MRI and CT scanning alongside consulting and support spaces.
MTX has also been appointed to deliver the Pitsea Community Diagnostic Centre in mid and south Essex, which will be the largest CDC in the region once complete, alongside the handover of the Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre.
