Morgan Sindall Construction has been appointed by West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust to deliver a new, purpose-built endoscopy unit adjacent to the Newmarket Community Hospital.

The total project will be a £25m healthcare facility that includes the endoscopy centre, other clinical spaces such as paediatric, audiology and training rooms, and other costs such as specialist medical equipment, internal fit-out, design and planning work.

Within that, the main construction contract that Morgan Sindall is delivering is valued at £15m for the endoscopy centre.

Procured through the NHS’s Procure23 framework, the new two-storey, 2,300 sqm facility is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.

It will house four endoscopy procedure rooms, 16 preparation and recovery spaces, paediatric audiology suites, and dedicated training facilities.

Strategically located beside the recently completed Community Diagnostic Centre, also delivered by Morgan Sindall, the endoscopy unit forms part of a broader local strategy to ease pressure on regional hospitals, particularly West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.

Morgan Sindall’s team will work around ongoing operations, respecting existing site constraints, including retaining mature trees and integrating with current infrastructure, without compromising day-to-day patient care.
