MedTech industry call to action addresses urgent clinical challenges in North West London
Imperial College Healthcare Partners seeks innovations that provide home monitoring for psychiatric patients, prevent pressure ulcers in the home, and support the correct administration of hospital drugs
Innovative MedTech companies are being urged to focus research and development on three specific areas following a ‘call to action’ from Imperial College Healthcare Partners, the Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) for North West London.
The move aims to address three urgent clinical challenges that the NHS is facing in North West London. These are preventing pressure ulcers in the home; providing home monitoring for psychiatric patients to prevent hospital re-admissions; and supporting the correct administration of hospital drugs.
Solutions must focus on the root cause of the challenges rather than providing fixes to the consequences; be largely ready to be implemented immediately; and include efficiency and financial benefits as well as transition costs to switch from current to new practice.
All proposals must be submitted by 5pm on 30 May 2014. After this date, the most-innovative and relevant ideas will be invited to an event in June with clinicians and procurement experts to review the proposals in more detail.
Following the event, and depending on the quality of proposals, it is intended that a competitive dialogue procurement process will be used. The submission is just a short questionnaire, requesting information that should be readily to hand.
