Builder appointed under NHS ProCure21 plus framework

Kier Group has secured three new contracts under the NHS ProCure21+ framework.

The company is the preferred bidder for a £160m contract to design and build a new critical treatment hospital for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The new 45,000sq m campus within the borough of Basingstoke and Deane will include a new cancer treatment centre and critical pathology laboratories, with work planned to start on site in April 2016.

A £25m contract to upgrade three hospitals in Boston, Grantham and Lincoln for United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT), has also been announced. Work has started on site and is expected to complete by March 2016.

Finally, a contract totalling approximately £22m has been agreed to reconfigure and refurbish Dewsbury and District Hospital for the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, enabling the hospital to bring together all the services it currently provides into the existing Ridings Building and Service Centre.

In addition, Kier has been appointed by two NHS trusts as Principal Supply Chain Partner through the ProCure 21+ framework. These are with The Wye Valley NHS Trust for the delivery of a £40m programme of reconfiguration works at Hereford County Hospital; and Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for the delivery of the trust’s future estates strategy. The first phase of this programme of works is the delivery of a new children, young people and family project providing adolescent inpatient beds, a psychiatric intensive care unit, and an inpatient perinatal unit.

Haydn Mursell, chief executive of Kier, said: "Kier’s work under the ProCure 21+ framework has extended our position as one of the UK’s-leading building providers to the healthcare sector.

“These awards highlight the breadth of services we are able to offer our clients, and confirm our progress with our Vision 2020 strategy.”

Kier is one of six Principal Supply Chain Partners appointed to the P21+ framework by the Department of Health.
