Product beats off competition at the Commissions Specialists Association Awards

Johnson Controls Building Efficiency has seen its Metasys Access Portal Gateway awarded the title of Product Innovation of the Year at the CSA Awards 2016.

The pocket-sized web server can be carried around or permanently mounted. It automatically discovers all connected devices in a system, helping the commissioning and configuring of connected devices to be achieved quickly.

The built-in wireless access point serves up a mobile-optimised user interface through a smart phone, tablet or web browser of a computer — giving remote access to equipment and system data.

With easy access to set points, schedules, trends and alarms, you can analyse device performance, troubleshoot issues, and take corrective action as necessary – right from your fingertips with no need to go onsite, or on the roof. It saves time, increases accuracy and provides immediate, at-a-glance access to information.

Independently judged by a panel of industry speciailists and representatives, the award received a very-high standard of entries and was sponsored by the CSA, with category finalists including Siemens Building Technologies and Danfoss, among others.

Jim Payne, product manager for Johnson Controls Building Efficiency in UK and Ireland, said of the win: “Everyone at Johnson Controls involved in the development and deployment of the new Metasys Access Portal Gateway is delighted with this award. It will motivate us to provide even-greater products to enhance our customers‘ productivity and effectiveness.‘‘

Up to now Building Management System’s (BMS) local user interfaces have been fixed to the controllers or panels and have typically been of a low-resolution display with limited access to the devices and data. The MAP Gateway brings all the latest technology that we all use every day, to the building controls user or controls commissioning technician.

By using technologies available on devices like smartphones and tablets the MAP gateway serves up all the data the building manager or technician requires and greatly enhances the BAS local display user experience.
