IPiN is the leading IP nurse call system, utilising the Internet Protocol standard, IPiN provides maximum flexibility to estates teams with a future-proof, cost effective nurse call platform that can be expanded, added to or modified as the Hospital’s needs change over time; this includes easy integration with third party solutions such as VoIP, staff attack and lighting controls.
Bespoke trunking and service columns
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham has 1,213 beds, including a 100 bedded Critical Care Unit each of which are serviced with Wandsworth Healthcare Medical Service Columns (MSCs) and horizontal trunking.
Uniquely, Wandsworth Healthcare fitted the bedhead services into a wall system to provide a clean and uncluttered environment in patient areas. Each section of horizontal trunking was custom-fitted to the hospital’s specific requirements for each patient room.
This degree of flexibility is a core feature of Wandsworth’s trunking and MSC solutions; the company recognises that no two installations are exactly the same. Wandsworth Healthcare offer a range of specifications and size and mounting options, or can produce containment solutions specific to client's requirements.
In the case of the Queen Elizabeth hospital, the trunking and service columns were supplied to site pre-gassed, wired and fully assembled, ready to be installed in the required locations ensuring minimal disruption and rapid installation.
Trunking and nurse call integration
An added advantage for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital was the ease with which IPiN nurse call system service panels could be fully integrated within the installed trunking or service columns. This ensures that in addition to vital gases and power, nurse call communication functionalities are also readily available, vital for patient care and the efficiency of staff.
QE represents proven rapid installation of trunking
The Wandsworth team worked closely with the Hospital on a strict area-by-area handover programme. Deadlines had to be maintained as once an area was complete it was sealed to limit any infection issues on final handover.
