HCA Healthcare UK has expanded its GP and preventative health services across London with the opening of additional facilities in Canary Wharf and central London.
The investment increases capacity for GP appointments and health screening services at two locations: a new dedicated centre at 2 Upper Bank Street in Canary Wharf and an expanded outpatient facility at 32 Wimpole Street, home to The Portland Hospital Outpatients.
At Canary Wharf, the new facility provides eight consulting rooms dedicated to GP consultations and health screening, complementing existing services at HCA UK’s outpatient centre on Bank Street.
The provider said the expansion is designed to improve access to primary care while offering streamlined referral pathways into its wider specialist network.
Meanwhile, four consulting rooms at The Portland Hospital Outpatients will now be used for GP and health screening services, increasing access to preventative healthcare in central London.
Expanding its Lister Fertility Clinic network, HCA Healthcare UK also opened a new satellite fertility clinic at its Canary Wharf Outpatients Centre in May, increasing access to consultations, diagnostics and treatment preparation.
Earlier this year, the company also announced plans for a new £17m outpatient, diagnostics and primary care centre near St Paul’s Cathedral, due to open in 2027.
HCA Healthcare UK said the latest facilities will support both individual patients and employers seeking faster access to GP-led services and preventative health screening programmes.
Other private healthcare providers, such as Bupa, have also targeted opening a primary care facility in Canary Wharf, as it is the heart of London’s central business with 130,000 people who work and live in the region.
The location provides a close proximity to a large number of companies that have corporate programmes for their employees.
