HCA Healthcare UK has expanded its fertility services with the opening of a new satellite clinic at its Canary Wharf Outpatients Centre.
This new satellite clinic extends HCA’s provision from the Lister Fertility Clinic in Chelsea into London’s financial district.
The new facility, located at 40 Bank Street in Canary Wharf, will provide consultations, scans and blood testing, with patients referred to the Chelsea site for procedures including egg collection and embryo transfer.
A representative from HCA told Building Better Healthcare that the fertility clinic is the only expansion for the Canary Wharf Outpatients Centre currently planned.
The fertility clinic operates from HCA UK’s £18m, 20,000 sqft Canary Wharf Outpatients Centre, which opened in 2024 following the refurbishment and fit-out of existing office space within the 30-storey commercial tower.
The building itself was originally completed in 2003 as part of the wider Canary Wharf estate development.
Construction of the healthcare facility involved the conversion of office floors into a clinical environment, including the installation of diagnostic imaging infrastructure such as MRI and ultrasound capability.
The project formed part of HCA UK’s wider investment in outpatient and diagnostics capacity across London.
With approximately 120,000 people working in Canary Wharf, the new satellite clinic is designed to provide a more accessible entry point for fertility care, particularly for those balancing treatment with demanding work schedules.
Services at the site include initial investigations, monitoring and treatment preparation, alongside access to HCA UK’s “Fit for Fertility” health screening programme.
Patients requiring further treatment will be referred to the Lister Fertility Clinic in Chelsea, maintaining a hub-and-spoke model across the network.
The opening follows HCA UK’s recent announcement of a new outpatients centre near St Paul’s, due to open in 2027, and forms part of a broader expansion of its fertility services.
The Canary Wharf site joins a growing network of satellite locations, including facilities at The Shard, The Beaconsfield Clinic and The Portland Hospital.
“At HCA UK, our priority is to help patients at every stage of their fertility journey, not only through exceptional clinical care, but by ensuring they can access our services in a way that works for them,” said James Nicopoullos, Medical Director at the Lister Fertility Clinic.
