Castleoak has announced a £13m contract win with Anchor to deliver a retirement village of luxury independent living cottages and apartments in Haywards Heath, Sussex.

Anchor is England’s-largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for older people.

The latest development at Haywards Heath will include 10 independent cottages in a timber-frame construction, as well as 58 one and two-bedroom apartments.

The luxury development will offer residents state-of-the-art communal facilities including a coffee shop, hair and beauty salon and professionally-landscaped gardens.

As well as living in a thriving local community, residents will benefit from the peace of mind that they can live independently and receive care by highly-trained professionals should they need it.

Jon Schofield, head of construction at Anchor, said: “We are very pleased to be working with Castleoak on the development of our new independent living scheme at Haywards Heath.

“With a reputation built on 45 years’ experience, Anchor is a trusted provider of housing and services for older people. We have an ambitious new development strategy and are committed to providing older people with a choice of great places and ways to live.”

Castleoak’s chief executive, Craig Currie, added: “We are delighted to be awarded this significant contract with long-term customer Anchor. Our specialist expertise in retirement living design and build will enable us to refine designs and drive efficiencies throughout the carefully-controlled construction programme. Our aim is to make the whole project delivery process smooth.”
