Calderdale and Huddersfield trust goes live with Ascribe Web Pharmacy
Solution enables pharmacy staff to check and dispense prescriptions from the dispensary to patient bedsides
Ascribe has today the successful ‘go-live’ of its Web Pharmacy solution at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT).
The organisation required a platform that delivered effective medicines management to support the trust’s strategic vision for medicines. The Web Pharmacy upgrade - from a previous version of software - is the first phase in delivering the strategy. This will be followed by Phase Two, which will see the trust move to Ascribe’s full electronic medicines management (eMM) solution and clinical desktop.
CHFT is already seeing the clinical and operational benefits of Web Pharmacy. Having a flexible role-based security system in place that is scalable and configurable at Enterprise level, enables pharmacy staff to clinically check and dispense prescriptions throughout the hospital, from the dispensary to patients’ bedsides. The solution provides advanced reporting capabilities using Microsoft SQL ensuring improvements to operational efficiency and patient safety.
Clinical director of pharmacy, Mike Culshaw, said: “We have been pleased to see a strong partnership working relationship between our pharmacy staff and the project team at Ascribe. The engagement between Ascribe and Calderdale has led to a successful go-live of the Web Pharmacy system. We look forward to the second phase of the project to having full electronic medicines management.”
