A historic building in Chapeltown, South Yorkshire, has undergone a £3m redevelopment to become a new medical centre housing a GP surgery, pharmacy, and an eye health clinic.
Mayfair Group Investment (MGI) completed the new facility on Chapeltown Road with support from a £2m finance package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.
GP surgery, St Martins Practice, has moved into the new centre after outgrowing its old premises.
And community-based ophthalmology provider, Newmedica, which is part of the Specsavers group, has also opened a new surgery within the building.
It provides NHS-funded and private services for treating eye diseases and disorders.

Meanwhile, a Medichem pharmacy has opened providing prescription and non-prescription drugs.
The chemist chain was founded in Chapeltown 35 years ago by the father of Rohin Dhand, chief executive of MGI.
Dhand said: “The local community has been in desperate need of improvement to its healthcare provision for many years.
“St Martins House will help to deliver this, with state-of-the-art facilities and expert ophthalmology services.”
Lee Rycraft, relationship director at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, added that it was evidence that the health sector is still attractive to investors. He said: “Our latest Healthcare Confidence Index shows that optimism in the sector is on the rise, and the development of St Martins House demonstrates this well.”
