Vistamatic and Between Glass Blinds take 4.5 million steps for charity
Company's efforts raise more than £2,500 for Haven House Children's Hospice
Throughout February, sister companies Vistamatic and BetweenGlassBlinds took on a challenge to walk as many steps as possible to raise money for charity.
Armed with pedometers, smart watches, and phones, the 20-strong team ran, walked, cycled, skied, rock climbed, and karate kicked their way to 4.5 million steps.
The team really got into the challenge, with half managing more than 10,000 steps a day, and the 24-hour record being a whopping 35,376.
Also, three quarters of the group averaged over 7,500 steps per day, which is where scientific studies have shown promotes better health.
Supporting the challenge, friends and family pledged to donate money to the companies’ chosen charity, Haven House Children’s Hospice.
And both Vistamatic and BetweenGlassBlinds had agreed to match each donation, meaning for every £10 donated, Haven House will receive £30.
Donations poured in and the final total gifted to the charity is £2,511.
Director, Mark Nash, said: “We are really pleased with how the team tackled the challenge.
“With such a diverse group, it was great to see them all find ways to get involved and moving more, which is so positive for both physical and mental health.
Many staff members have said they have really enjoyed it, and will carry on even now that the challenge has finished.”
Haven House is a nurse-led children’s hospice for North East London and west Essex supporting seriously-ill babies, children, and their families by providing specialist care, wherever, and whenever, they need it.
The charity delivers a wide range of services, including care at end of life, specialist symptom management, daycare, and overnight breaks, emotional and wellbeing support, specialist play, music therapy, physiotherapy, family events, support groups and spiritual care.
