UK Power Networks Services has won a high-voltage electrical infrastructure renewal procurement contract at Northwick Park Hospital in London. Worth more than £600,000, the deal covers the supply of all key equipment needed at four electricity substations on the estate. The contract was awarded after the company won earlier deals to maintain and operate the hospital's HV network. Company projects manager, Tom Hehir, said: "This work is just the latest in our ongoing focus on the healthcare sector. Our experience and expertise is increasingly helping us to support hospitals in their requirements for secure and sustainable power infrastructure." Of the Northwick Park contract, he added: "We have recently upgraded some critical aspects of the electricity network on site that keep accident and emergency, X-ray and operating theatres running. This has highlighted our ability to deliver to tight timescales and to meet critical operational requirements. We should start on the HV upgrade soon and that should take up to about eight months. Most of our work will take place out of sight of patients and visitors and will cause little or no disruption to the hospital's day-to-day operational status."
