Panel Systems installs timber panels for new Eastwood Health Centre in Glasgow

One of the UK’s leading panel manufacturers, Panel Systems, has supplied timber-faced insulated panels to the new £15m Eastwood Health Centre in Glasgow.

The manufacturer supplied over 140sq m of aluminium insulated panels, which were clad with Siberian Larch to the front face. The timber facing was given a special fire resistant coating for added safety.

The project required panels with protruding aluminium trays which were filled with insulation that was shaped by Panel Systems using its CNC equipment. The panels were supplied to the glazing contractor and fixed into aluminium windows on site.

The health centre serves the Eastwood area of East Renfrewshire and houses five existing GP practices and community health and care services, including clinics, podiatry, physiotherapy and childrens’ and mental health.

The centre also includes a cafe run as an employability project and serves as a community hub with a variety of spaces for voluntary groups to come together.

The facility has been adopted as the 'Reference Design' for new primary care centres across Scotland and sets the standard for affordable, quality and sustainable healthcare facilities for the future. Particular attention has been given to ensure this is a dementia-friendly building.

Danny Phelan, national sales manager for Panel Systems, said: “We were delighted to be selected to supply this prestigious project, which goes to show the wide extent of our fabrication capabilities.

“The project involved quite-intricate shaping of the insulation and panel to meet the architect’s design aspirations.”

With more than 40 years’ experience supplying architectural panel products, Panel Systems has extensive three and five-axis CNC equipment within its facilities in Yorkshire and the capabilities to manufacture panels to suit a comprehensive range of requirements.
