KIMS is listed as one of four finalists in the category of Entrepreneurial Achievement

The finalists of the Laing & Buisson 2013 Independent Healthcare Awards have been announced.

The Kent Institute of Medicine & Surgery (KIMS) is listed as one of four finalists in the category of Entrepreneurial Achievement. As a chosen finalist, this accolade is an acknowledgement that KIMS, which is due to open in April 2014, is clearly demonstrating its commitment to innovatively transforming the Kent private and NHS healthcare market.

KIMS is an independent, clinician-led and part clinician-owned healthcare campus. The nomination for Entrepreneurial Achievement resonates as strongly with clinicians as it does with the nominees Franz Dickmann, Phyllis Holt, James Dickmann and Steven Bernstein. For KIMS, entrepreneurial means trying something new, continually improving and stretching beyond what has been done in the past.

Dedicated to delivering ‘healthcare at its best’ KIMS recognises that entrepreneurial competencies in its management team, clinicians and future employees are essential to its continued success.

Stroud Consulting, Executive Healthcare headhunters recruited Jayne Cassidy as Chief Executive Officer in April 2013, followed by Cathy Simonson as Finance Director, who joined KIMS in June 2013. Adopting a comprehensive headhunting search for both recruitment campaigns, Joanna Stroud, Director of Stroud Consulting (click here to access Joanna's LinkedIn profile), said: “With both appointments there was a strong focus on identifying entrepreneurial competencies, as well as selecting candidates with specific technical skills required for each role."

“As Chief Executive Officer and Finance Director, Jayne and Cathy play pivotal roles in the business. With complementing skills and strengths, Jayne and Cathy share strategic and conceptual thinking, commercial aptitude, decisiveness, optimism and persistence.”

Jayne and Cathy benefit from a former working relationship at The Guildford Clinic LLP which was a 50:50 joint venture partnership between Nuffield Health and Independent Healthcare Specialists (IHS).

Prior to joining KIMS, Cathy was Director of Finance for King Edward VII's Hospital Sister Agnes. The Kent Institute of Medicine & Surgery (KIMS) finalist in Laing & Buisson Awards 2013

Kent Institute of Medicine & Surgery (KIMS) is the first private tertiary level hospital in Kent. The construction of this £85m private hospital has been uniquely funded and the design and service delivery has been developed by clinicians.

KIMS will provide high-quality complex procedures comparable to London-based teaching hospitals meeting the needs of local communities and providing convenience for clinicians who want to practice locally to Kent.

The hospital will provide patients with access to more than 350 first-class clinicians and will employ circa 400 people by the end of 2014.
