Spire Healthcare has awarded Innova Care Concepts a five-year contract to supply hospital beds and mattresses across all its hospital sites.
Following a detailed audit of each hospital by Innova, the independent healthcare provider has placed an initial £1.5m order for 716 beds and mattresses to replace all products identified as eligible for immediate upgrade.
Yorkshire-based Innova has a long-standing relationship with Spire, having delivered 186 beds to a number of hospitals in 2019, including 65 Interlude Newcare V3 care beds to Spire Leeds Hospital.
Innova’s audit revealed Spire Healthcare were equipped with 29 different types of hospital bed from 10 different providers across its 39 hospital sites.
Clive Oliver, senior healthcare projects consultant at Innova, who co-ordinated the audit process, said: “Spire Healthcare came to us looking for a single fleet provider for its beds and mattresses.
“Not only will this ensure consistency in patient experience across the board, but it will also reduce the group’s long-term costs on servicing, replacements, and staff training.
“To provide a complete rollout solution, our team developed a unique scoring system and audited the full fleet.
“We identified which beds should be replaced first. Then, we recommended a range with the latest technology for safety, compliance, and comfort – as well as factoring in their requirements for wide and narrow bed options.”
Ben Foxley, head of procurement at Spire Healthcare, adds: “We are constantly looking for new ways to make every patient’s stay in our hospital as comfortable as possible and these new beds will be an important addition to our facilities.”
