Repose Furniture donates Stargazer Chair to renal ward

Birmingham Children’s Hospital has unveiled a new £1,300 specialist chair, which has been donated by a local manufacturer.

Parents and visitors to the hospital’s renal ward can now enjoy a comfortable overnight stay with patients after staff at Cradley Heath-based Repose Furniture donated its flagship Stargazer chair, a product that is already a regular fixture at hospitals across the UK.

The gesture came after staff at Repose took part in an annual charity event to raise vital funds for the hospital. Together the team raised over £250 and on learning more about the tremendous work hospital staff undertake every day, the company decided it wanted to do contribute more.

Lisa Wardley, managing director at Repose, said: “We regularly hold fundraising days in support of Birmingham Children’s Hospital, but this time we wanted to do something different. Being in hospital at any time is difficult, but to have a poorly child is a really worrying time for both the child and their family. We hope that the Stargazer Chair, which transforms from a chair to a bed, will provide comfort to not only patients on the renal ward, but also to their families who will be able to stay by their bedside.”

The chair has been specially designed and manufactured for use within a healthcare environment. Transitioning easily from a chair to a bed, it provides a comfortable resting place for both patient and visitors in a hospital setting. The specialist piece of furniture, which features anti-MRSA vinyl upholstery, also comes in a range of vivid colours, making it a bright addition to the renal ward.
