Queen Victoria Hospital chooses front lawn for new CDC and seeks contractors

The local council has approved the planning application for Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to build a Community Diagnostic Centre

Mid Sussex District Council has approved the planning application for Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to build a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) on its site.

NHS England granted the project funding in October 2024, and at the time the location of the CDC on the site was still being determined.

The location of the single storey building has now been decided and will be the front lawn, outside the Jubilee Building, with the entrance coming from Gate 2.

The plan is for the building to be up and running in April 2026

The remaining lawn will be enhanced and landscaped to provide a space for patients, visitors and staff to enjoy.

The Trust stated that the next step will be to appoint a contractor with the aim to start construction of the CDC in July/August.

“The plan is for the building to be up and running in April 2026,” the Trust stated.

The project is made possible thanks to a significant investment from NHS England.
