Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH), in partnership with Ergéa UK,has completed a major upgrade to diagnostic imaging services at John Radcliffe Hospital

Delivered through a Managed Equipment Service (MES) agreement with Ergéa UK, the project included the installation of two state-of-the-art systems – a GE Artist Evo MRI scanner and a GE SPECT/CT gamma camera – alongside a full refurbishment of the Nuclear Medicine Department. These enhancements are already creating a modern, efficient, and patient-focused environment, improving clinical workflows and the overall patient experience.

The GE Artist Evo MRI scanner now supports up to 600 patients per month, enabling faster scans, more accurate diagnoses, and enhanced patient comfort – particularly for neurological patients where precision and reduced scan times are critical. The new GE SPECT/CT gamma camera, combined with the refurbished Nuclear Medicine Department, significantly expands OUH’s diagnostic capabilities, offering precise imaging for oncology and paediatric patients in a brighter, more welcoming environment.

Felicity Taylor-Drewe, Chief Operating Officer at OUH, said: “These new imaging facilities are a fantastic step forward for our patients and staff. They improve both the quality and speed of diagnosis, while creating a more comfortable and efficient experience for everyone using our services. This ongoing project reflects our commitment to modern, high-quality care across our hospitals, and we are delighted to be working with Ergéa UK to deliver it.”

Mike Leach, Account Director for Transformation Services at Ergéa UK, added: “This is more than just managing equipment – it’s about supporting NHS Trusts with flexible, vendor-neutral solutions, so they can focus on what truly matters: delivering the best possible care to patients.”
