Modernisation scheme will create dedicated imaging and colposcopy unit

Tilbury Douglas has been appointed to lead the £3m Crown Street Improvement Project at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

The trust specialises in the health of women and their babies, both within the hospital and out in the community, and is the only specialist organisation of its type in the UK and the largest women’s hospital of its kind.

The modernised ground floor will provide a dedicated imaging and colposcopy department.

The project will start on site next week and is due to complete in May next year 2022.

The works follow the completion of the new second-floor foetal medicine unit.

The appointment of Tilbury Douglas comes after its successful completion of Liverpool Women’s neonatal init in 2020.

And this latest project will include the same design team – Gilling Dod Architects, Hoare Lea, and Sutcliffes.

Phil Shaw, divisional director for the North West at Tilbury Douglas, said: “Having worked closely with Liverpool Women’s Hospital for many years now, we are delighted to have been appointed to deliver this new unit, which will provide a specialist national health service for women and their babies.”
