FLEX by MTX, a fully serviced lease option for NHS Trusts, removes expansion barriers

With the Government last week acknowledging the scale of the pressures facing the healthcare sector, MTX, the MMC building specialist has today announced the launch of FLEX – Full-Service Lease Extensions.

In direct response to the increased pressures and demands facing the healthcare sector, FLEX acts as a rapid solution to increase clinical capacity which is both flexible and accessible. Delivering fast, full-service lease extensions, via a simple pay-as-you-grow, fixed-term monthly fee the new product offering supports the Government’s drive to build back better.

Drawing on MTX’s more than 30 years’ of experience in the industry, and using the latest Modern Methods of Construction, pre-fabrication off-site allows the buildings to be delivered faster, greener and with much less site disruption.

Utilising standardised operating theatre suite and ward designs, developed in collaboration with leading consultants and clinicians means FLEX can be deployed at pace, avoiding the delays often experienced during the design phase, whilst still ensuring full-compliance and no compromise on quality.

Only available to the NHS, FLEX provides a full-service from pre-construction, construction, project management and a fully managed service, including Hard and Soft FM to suit operational and financial requirements.

The lease nature of FLEX by MTX means Trusts can benefit from additional clinical capacity via a monthly fee which would sit off-balance sheet, removing the delays of seeking capital funding.

David Hartley, Managing Director at MTX, said: “Latest figures from the NHS claim they have more than 5.7 million people on the waiting list and a backlog of around 100,000 procedures each month alone*. With such high pressure on the NHS following the strain of the Coronavirus pandemic, we need to be thinking differently about how we meet patient demand. Construction solutions need to be fast, flexible, simple and accessible, and that’s where FLEX comes in.

“Seeking capital funding for expansions can be a timely process, but single-source funding provides another way, allowing the costs to sit off balance sheet, while at the same time enhancing a Trust’s ability to serve patients, stakeholders and the general community. FLEX is a completely new service offering for the industry – the first of its kind – and we’re confident that it’s a great option for a number of healthcare estates that are searching for a fast-track solution to expand their clinical capacity.”
