Kier has been appointed by the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust to deliver a £97m project at Heartlands Hospital.
The new Ambulatory Care and Diagnostics Centre (ACAD) has been procured through the P22 framework and will include construction of a new 18,000sq m, four-storey building providing a number of first-class facilities including 120 consultation rooms, 26 specialist audiology and ear nose and throat rooms, ultrasound and X-ray rooms, as well as CT and MRI scanning facility.
The new building will care for half a million patients a year and has been designed to provide a modern, spacious environment purpose-built to meet the needs of patients, with dementia-friendly and accessible design features.
Work is are due to start on site later this summer, with the project due for completion in 2022.
Mark Pausey, managing director at the Kier Regional Building Central, said: “The new facility will provide patients first-class facilities and modernised healthcare services.”
Kier is also currently on site delivering a transformation programme at Heatherwood Hospital.
The £98m programme will provide first-class facilities for Ascot and the surrounding area, with the site set to specialist in planned, non-emergency procedures.
