Further details have emerged about proposals to create a £33m care village in the grounds of Stirling Community Hospital.
Drawings of the project have been released by jmarchitects, showing a modern, purpose-built facility built alongside a minor injury service, X-ray facilities and accommodation for a number of local GP practices.
The development will see NHS Forth Valley working together with Stirling Council to support older people who require short-term care or an assessment or rehabilitation following an illness, an operation, or a stay in hospital.
Planning consent for the project was granted earlier this year and NHS Forth Valley is now seeking approval from the Scottish Government. An outline business case is currently being considered by ministers and, if approved, work will move onto the next stage. This involves preparation of a full business case, which will contain more-detailed plans and costings. It is hoped that the process will be concluded by June with work starting on site next summer.
