Countess of Chester Hospital

Following past proven successes with working in critical healthcare environments, the blue light team at Fordingbridge were tasked with the design and build of a bespoke covered walkway, allowing patients and staff all-weather access to a newly installed modular ward adjacent to a recently constructed critical care unit at the busy Cheshire hospital

With 17m coverage required, the canopy was designed so as to allow clear external access to the ward, while offering sufficient weather protection to those moving between the main hospital building and modular unit. Allowing for the varying height of the access ramp to the unit, the walkway canopy features an ascending polycarbonate roof, cutting out patient discomfort and health risks resulting from rain. The specified 2.5m span of the canopy also allows sufficient clearance for all patient apparatus which may be required.

The covered walkway canopy adds to the existing Fordingbridge portfolio of healthcare installations, and demonstrates how they utilise our in-house designers to manufacture and install canopies and walkways for any environment.
