QinetiQ system will collate and analyse service feedback from assessors and the public

A new information system is being deployed by regulator, The Care Quality Commission (CQC), to rate the performance of care homes, hospitals, dentists and GP surgeries.

The system, from QinetiQ, can automatically extract, categorise and analyse feedback from the vast number of comments about the performance of health and social care professionals that the CQC receives direct from members of the public and from its assessors and inspectors based across the country.

The system is being deployed as part of an initial 18-month contract following a successful pilot undertaken last year. It is powered by two software engines and tailored to process views expressed about the provider, categorised into the CQC’s essential standards of quality and safety.

QinetiQ’s project director, Dr Andrew Rankin, said: “We have been working closely with the CQC for several years now and have developed our understanding of the issues that they face. This has enabled us to apply our technical expertise, and that of our partners, to provide a solution that is unique to them.”
