Ultrasound system provides enhanced image quality and improved diagnosis

Aintree University Hospital has recently updated imaging capabilities in its breast clinic with the installation of an ACUSON S2000 from Siemens Healthcare.

The system was chosen to provide greater image quality and is used both by the multi-disciplinary breast team and the general ultrasound department, thanks to its ergonomic design.

In addition to routine breast examinations, the S2000 has enabled the hospital to perform breast elastography procedures for the first time. eSie Touch elasticity imaging uses gentle compression to provide a high-resolution elastogram depicting relative tissue stiffness. In addition, Advanced SieClear spatial compounding technology is helping to provide excellent tissue detail, contrast resolution, border definition and speckle reduction.

“Following a smooth installation process, we are all very pleased with the ACUSON S2000’s performance,” states Samantha Davis, principal radiographer at Aintree University Hospital.

“The system’s excellent image quality, advanced features and innovative probes have allowed us to expand the services we offer to include breast elastography, and assisted sonographers in making a swift and accurate diagnosis,”

“We are delighted that the ACUSON S2000 is meeting the needs of clinicians at Aintree University Hospital’s breast clinic with its excellent image quality and a simple-yet-efficient user interface,” said Richard Evans, regional sales manager at Siemens Healthcare.

“Aintree’s breast unit prides itself in offering state-of-the-art diagnostic services. We are glad to assist with the S2000 and look forward to supporting the large variety of symptomatic and screening work the unit is responsible for in the future.”
