Octopus Healthcare has announced plans for a new state-of-the-art medical centre on the site of Merton Vision charity’s headquarters in South London.
The proposal aims to bring the Colliers Wood GP surgery main site and its branch site at Lavender Fields together into a single new fit-for-purpose primary care centre.
It would offer a wide range of primary and secondary healthcare facilities and has already won the support of the Merton Clinical Commissioning Group.
It is intended that the new 1,700sq m, three-storey centre will comprise a GP surgery with 13 new consulting rooms, four treatment rooms and space for additional services.
It will be capable of supporting up to 12,000 patients in the local area. The increased capacity will reduce waiting times, improve service, and be capable of absorbing a growing local population.
Merton Vision will also occupy the ground floor of the building.
Octopus Healthcare hopes to submit its planning application by the end of the year and is inviting local residents to view and discuss the plans at a public consultation later this month.
If the application is successful, work will start on site next summer, with the new facility opening in autumn 2020.
