New breast screening unit in Tyne and Wear
A new breast cancer screening unit has opened at Cleadon Park Primary Care Centre in South Shields, Tyne and Wear. The facility replaces a mobile facility at South Tyneside District Hospital and uses digital mammography instead of X-ray film. Dr David Hambleton, director of commissioning development at NHS South of Tyne and Wear, said: "Breast screening saves lives. We would urge all women to take up their invitation for screening and make use of this valuable new service."
