New options makes windows more flexible when cost is a key driver

Aluminium systems supplier, Kawneer, has enhanced its AA540 window range.

The new side-hung and bottom-hung open-in variants join the original AA543 tilturn and an AA541 casement and AA542 pivot window to make the range more flexible for projects where cost is a key driver.

The range suites with Kawneer’s AA100 and AA110 curtain walling, 451PT framing, and door systems to give specifiers and architects flexibility for new-build and refurbishment projects in the healthcare, sector, particularly in high-rise applications.

The new variants use the same multi-chamber thermal break core as their predecessors, ensuring thermal efficiency with U values down to 1.5W/m2K and full compliance with Document L, while optional trickle ventilation also helps meet the requirements of Document F.

And, in line with the range philosophy of complementing the increasing demand for environmentally-friendly window systems with aesthetic but highly-secure building products, the AA543 open-in turn-only is independently tested to BS 7950:1997 – Amendments 1, 2 and 3. In addition, the full opening in the turn position offers an escape route in an emergency.

A pressure-equalised system gives both the AA543 side-hung and bottom-hung open-in variants superior weather performance independently tested to BS 6375-1: 2009, and they are also compliant with Operation and Strength Test BS 6375-2: 2009.
