Healthy living centre plan for rugby club
Work has begun on a £300,000 health and lifestyle centre at the ground of one of the country's most-famous Rugby League teams. NHS Hull has invested the cash in the new facility at Craven Park as part of a larger club project to expand the Robin's East Stand. The new centre will include services such as stop-smoking clinics and weight management support. It is expected to be completed by June. Kath Lavery, chairman of NHS Hull, said: "Hull is a city with a number of long-standing health and lifestyle problems, such as high rates of smoking, low activity levels and some poor eating habits. In order to try to tackle these issues, we wanted to try a different approach which would reach out to people and offer help at the heart of the community." Hull building firm, Hobson and Porter has been contracted to carry out the building work.
