Plans have been submitted to convert The White House at Harrow College’s Lowlands Road campus into a new GP surgery and community healthcare hub.
The project is being brought forward by Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges (HRUC), which owns the circa-1830 Grade II listed building.
Under the proposals, Headstone Road Surgery would relocate to The White House, providing GP and primary care services from the refurbished facility.
HRUC has appointed UK construction and infrastructure company Blu-3 as the principal and main contractor for the refurbishment, following a competitive tender process managed by Morse Consultants.
The contract is capped at £1.247m plus VAT, with £1.7m allocated to the overall project through the FE Capital Transformation Grant.
The scheme would involve internal alterations to create healthcare accommodation, alongside repairs to the building and changes to the surrounding site.
Plans include removing the existing conservatory, alterations to the building’s elevations, and changes to parking and pedestrian access.
Further works to adapt the listed building include a new lift, staircase alterations, fire-safety measures, insulation, secondary glazing and new building services.
Planning documents state that the building has deteriorated through age, weathering and reduced use.
The conversion would bring the currently underused property back into use while providing new premises for the GP practice.
The healthcare conversion remains subject to the planning process, with applications submitted to Harrow Council covering the proposed change of use and listed-building works.
