Bio-fuel technology helps reduce carbon emissions

A neighbourhood centre and new GP practice in Oldham have both chosen bio-fuel technology by Atlantic Boilers for their heating and hot water needs.

Selected by consulting engineers, Blue Sky Inspired, each building has a 90kW R Series Atlantic year-round condensing boiler with an efficiency of between 92% GCV and 97% GCV – (98% NCV and 103% NCV). The neighbourhood centre boiler burns B100 bio-liquid transformed from waste vegetable oil and rape seed oil, and the GP surgery boiler burns natural gas with an option to burn B100 bio-fuel in the future.

Fitton Hill Neighbourhood Centre is a purpose-built facility providing community services. The building houses a library, youth centre and community facilities. Phase two of the development comprises a purpose-built medical facility, Hill Top Surgery.

The boilers bridge the gap between gas condensing and bio-liquid condensing boilers – both are served by carefully-selected B100 storage & circulating circuits.

The neighbourhood centre system was installed by Lewis Facilities, and the surgery system by Bay Building Services.
