East London trust deploys PAS and electronic results system
Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust selects McKesson’s Medway patient administration and electronic ordering and results reporting systems
Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust has selected McKesson’s Medway patient administration system (PAS) and electronic ordering and results reporting technology.
Steve Huddleston, chief information officer at the trust, said: “The trust is planning a rapid deployment, which should be completed by the end of 2013. This is seen as the foundation for achieving full electronic health records for patients.
“The development of the Medway PAS will significantly improve the administration of patient information, with the ordering and results system helping to improve the efficiency of the emergency department by speeding up the diagnostic reporting, reducing waits and helping to provide a higher-quality service.
“The new system will support our hospitals and bring benefits to the wider health community, including easier sharing of information between clinicians.”
Paul Richards, managing director for health and social care at McKesson UK, added: “The value of a modern reliable PAS should never be underestimated. It provides the key pillar of a hospital’s patient care and patient management systems, supporting improvements in quality and driving efficiencies across both the trust and the wider NHS.”
