Former president of the British Society for Clinical Neurophysiology (BSCN), Dr Peter Heath, has joined Bespoke Healthcare in the newly-created position of quality assurance lead.
Dr Heath will be responsible for ensuring and enhancing clinical standards in peripheral neurophysiological EMG and nerve conduction clinics as well as the increasing provision of complex intra-operative monitoring (IOM) for spinal and neurosurgical operations.
Key tasks include strict adherence to UK national guidelines as set by the BSCN, training and support of the expanding and experienced IOM team and undertaking regular audits of peripheral neurophysiology and IOM services.
Dr Heath, who maintains his role as consultant in clinical neurophysiology at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, was also previously chairman of the Royal College of Physicians’ specialist advisory committee responsible for UK training in clinical neurophysiology.
Gwam Rajiah, managing director of Bespoke Healthcare, the UK's leading provider of neurophysiology and IOM tests for the NHS, said: "The appointment of Peter is designed to realise our goal of becoming the company in the UK that raises standards, pushes boundaries and delivers excellence in the sector.
"Coupled with the recent appointments of Lynne Barlow to the role of commercial director and Matt Wells as corporate development director, we have in place a strong senior management team dedicated to working in partnership with forward-thinking, influential NHS trusts and clinical commissioning groups."
