Exemplar Health Care starts work on £3.7m facility to support people living with dementia, acquired brain injury and complex mental health conditions

Specialist care provider, Exemplar Health Care, has started construction on its new £3.7m care home in Stockport, Greater Manchester.

Exemplar Health Care provides specialist nursing care that focuses on maximising independence and empowering those living with complex needs to live as fulfilled lives as possible.

And its new home, Adswood Lodge, will be the company’s fourth development in the Greater Manchester region.

Due to open early 2023, the home will specialise in supporting people living with dementia, acquired brain injury, complex mental health conditions, and physical disabilities.

Each of the 30 bedrooms will have an en-suite wetroom, and the building will feature high-quality, spacious communal spaces, sensory and therapy rooms, and landscaped gardens.

The home will also have its own trained in-house team of nursing specialists and therapists so that people living with complex needs can access holistic care in a community-based home.

Charlotte Lloyd, developments director at Exemplar Health Care, said: “We're excited to report that work on our new home in Stockport has begun, and that it will provide a variety of jobs to the area, including administrative, domestic, nursing, catering, and caring roles.

“Our goal is to support people in and around Stockport who are living with a range of complex conditions and are misplaced or remain in hospital settings, often for over two years and far away from home, due to the shortage of specialist nursing homes in the area.

“Adswood Lodge will provide nurse-led care, with a full multi-disciplinary team including a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist, and with the home bosting a wide range of communal, therapy, and sensory spaces which support and enable people to live close to home, regain their independence and everyday living skills, and, where possible, return to their community homes.

“We are also keen for Adswood Lodge to be a home where we can host community activities and where our residents can be part of the community, whether through work placements, local events and volunteering.”
