CoeLux ST – the next evolutionary step from CoeLux

Optical system artificially reproduces natural light and visual appearance of the sun

CoeLux is a ground-breaking optical system based on nano technology to artificially reproduce the natural light and visual appearance of the sun and sky in spaces that are deprived of natural light, creating the sensation of light, openness and infinite space.

CoeLux ST is the latest innovation from Coelux. The compact form enables this incredible light to be integrated with greater ease into many more types of interior environments across the office, commercial, retail, hospitality, healthcare and residential sectors.

A key feature of ST is that the ‘sun’ is not directly visible. The rays of sun reach the eye after being reflected, diffused, refracted, and diffracted by the louvre, imitating the interaction of the sunlight with other natural elements such as clouds, water, foliage and snow.

The CoeLux ST comprises three main elements:

  • A cutting-edge LED technology that replicates the sunlight’s spectrum
  • A sophisticated optical system that creates the depth of view
  • A millimetre-thick nano-structured material that creates the Rayleigh scattering process, to produce the light and the colour of the sky in the atmosphere

The CoeLux ST is available in three different versions each named after the locations and natural elements that have inspired the design and individual interface between the eyes and the artificial sky.

CoeLux ST NAOS

In ancient Greece mythical gods, goddesses, and divine figures were worshipped in all their forms. In temples, the inner-most chamber of the building, the Naos, would house effigies of these mythological heroes. Light would filter into the Naos between columns lining the outer walls of the chamber, enriching the space with a harmonious balance of light and shadow, introspection and a view to the world.

CoeLux ST NAOS offers an artificial skylight looking up to the sky, enabling interior spaces to be flooded in daylight through slatted windows.

The light that shines down from CoeLux ST NAOS is so natural it is as if a skylight has been opened allowing a space to be flooded with light from above. The slats bounce the light in all directions, ensuring an evenly-lit interior space.

CoeLux ST TIVANO

Tivano – from the French Petit vent – is the breeze that skims the Lake Como shores in the early hours of the day, clearing up the air and giving the lake the iconic beauty that makes it one of the most-fascinating and magical places in the world.

CoeLux ST TIVANO, available in two different versions, offers a reflected view of the light of the sun even when the image appears fragmented.

The trail of light constantly follows you emulating the reflection of the sun on the sea or a lake.

CoeLux ST TIVANO maintains the component of the sun and the sky separated, creating contrast and brightness similar to warm natural light, to offer depth and perspective to a space.

CoeLux ST IBLA

Ibla is the name of one of the areas of the historical city centre of Ragusa in South-West Sicily, which is famous around the world for the treasures of its architecture.

In the heat of the summer, the walls and the roofs bounce off the sunlight which feels even warmer due to the stone’s white-amber colour, as the narrow glimpses among the street let the unattainable blue cool of the sky in.

CoeLux ST IBLA is an artificial window featuring an uninterrupted clear opening to the sky, despite being positioned at the bottom of a deep well of light.

Like NAOS, the contrast between sky and sun lies inside the well itself, which produces utterly-uniform lighting in the room.
