Cleanroom Solutions embracing the future to elevate their large-scale facility construction provision

The Guardtech Group’s heritage turnkey brand are utilising state-of-the-art software to take their offering to another level

The Guardtech Group have never been a business that likes to stand still. In the past 25 years of cleanroom construction, the Suffolk-based contamination control specialists have sought progress year on year.

Whether that’s on-site health and safety practices, off-site utilisation of technology or simply bringing through fresh, young talent into the industry, developing the business in a holistic, positive way—whilst championing expertise and innovation—has been a tenet at the Group’s core.

And that same steely focus on development, improvement, progress and growth also applies to the way the different Guardtech Group brands embrace the future.

This is perhaps demonstrated most acutely with Cleanroom Solutions—the company that specialises in constructing complex, larger-scale, turnkey controlled environment facilities.

Among the recent developments at the company, which was formed in the year 2000 in Sussex by Jan Pyrgies, is the implementation of Autodesk Construction Cloud—a centralised project management software that connects teams, data and workflows throughout every phase of a construction project’s life cycle.

This ‘single source of truth’ ensures all stakeholders can access real-time data, models and documents from a single platform, reducing miscommunication, version mismatches or outdated plans and enhancing collaboration. It enables seamless collaboration between designers, engineers, contractors and clients regardless of location, as it is all cloud-based.

“The Guardtech Group are always on the lookout for the latest innovation, be that software or hardware, if we feel it’s going to improve our customer experience,” says Commercial Director Mark Wheeler.

“ACC is just another positive step for the Group—but in particular Cleanroom Solutions—in helping us to build our richest, most collaborative and watertight working relationships with clients as projects move through the RIBA stages.”

The improved quality control the software offers has been a big plus for Guardtech, helping to not only keep track of issues but then quickly and efficiently resolve them. It automatically logs and manages quality issues, with key features such as uploading photos, checklists and location tags.

“Risk mitigation and compliance are obviously critical for the applications we serve,” adds Wheeler. “Therefore, the ability to effectively manage audit trails—where every change and approval is logged—aids with compliance and adheres to industry regulations.

“The same applies to document control—having the capacity to control who can view, edit or approve sensitive documents is essential. As a team, we’ve just been so impressed with how seamlessly it all knits together, and it has already had such a significant impact in taking our large-scale, turnkey construction offering to new levels.”

It’s clear that ACC and all the benefits that advanced BIM (Building Integration Modelling) integration brings has had a hugely positive effect on design coordination at the Group—not just in terms of coordination, clash detection and project management—but also streamlined construction workflows.

However, there are many other areas in which Cleanroom Solutions and the wider Guardtech Group are excelling.

“Whether it’s some of the best 2D and 3D modelling on the market, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or utilising our 3D LiDAR scanner to produce our most accurate site surveys yet, what you get from a Cleanroom Solutions project is a level of attention to detail and quality that is unrivalled,” Wheeler continues.

“From design to installation to commissioning, the process is all about consultation and collaboration, supported by watertight documentation, whilst implementing the highest standards of on-site provision in our role as Principal Contractors on impeccably well-run CDM sites.

“I would urge any application considering a large-scale cleanroom facility project to get in touch for a free consultation—if you have a URS, great. If not, we’ll build it with you. We’re here to help you make your cleanroom dreams come true.”
