Carlisle health centre plan unveiled

Published: 2-Sep-2011

NHS Cumbria has submitted plans for a new health centre in the north of Carlisle to replace outdated Victorian buildings currently being used by some of the city's GP practices. The new facility, if approved, would primarily be used by Stanwix Medical Centre. Dr Mike Kewley, a GP from the practice, said: "A new health centre will enable us to provide more services for patients under one roof. The submission of this outline planning application is an important step towards that goal." Dr Peter Weaving, lead GP for Carlisle, added: "If successful, this will mark an important improvement to primary care premises in this part of the city."
