ECW model sanitises up to 15 heavily-soiled bins per hour

Industrial Washing Machines has launched a new cabinet-style bin washer to sanitise healthcare waste receptacles.

The ECW model has a throughput of 15 bins per hour with the ability to cope with heavy soiling.

Designed for use with 1100 litre and 770 litre wheeled HDPE waste bins, the machine features semi-automatic loading and a fully-automated wash/rinse cycle.

Soiled bins are wheeled into position by the machine operator, who then closes a safety gate and presses a pushbutton to complete loading. When loading is complete, the operator presses a second button to initiate the wash cycle.

The bin’s external surfaces are cleaned by sustained jetting from bayonet-type jets, while the interior of the bin is simultaneously cleaned by a rotary jet nozzle system that ensures the water jets reach all corners and crevices. Wash water and detergent are delivered at an accurately-controlled temperature that can be set between 50ºC-60ºC to suit customer requirements.

Washing is followed by a powered hot water rinse with water at 85ºC, or a rinse with mains water delivered at ambient temperature in combination with a chemical sanitising agent. If necessary, the user can select both sanitisation and hot water rinsing. All wastewater from the machine is filtered prior to discharge using a high-efficiency rotary filter system.

To ensure longevity of the machine, all key components are manufactured from high-grade T304 stainless steel and the design has been optimised both to eliminate dirt traps and to allow for easy cleaning and maintenance.

The washer is designed for floor mounting and features space-saving compact construction. It can be configured for steam heating of the wash and rinse water via a standard plate heat exchanger or for electrical water heating, according to user preference.
