Medical gas pipeline system (MGPS) specialist BeaconMedaes UK has entered into an exclusive distribution partnership with Dutch anaesthetic and ventilation consultant Puramed to extend its reach across Europe. Products from the BeaconMedaes portfolio of technologically-advanced Sustainability Solutions will now be available in the Benelux countries and France through Puramed’s established distributorship network.
BeaconMedaes has embraced the challenge of providing medical gas solutions that are not only safer for patients and staff, but also benefit the environment. Products in its Sustainability Solutions range are designed to address all areas of medical gas sustainability, with a particular focus on treating exhaled anaesthetic gases, identified as a key contributor to healthcare greenhouse gas emissions.
Under the partnership with Puramed, the Halogenated Drug Recovery Unit (HDR), an Atlas Copco product designed to treat dangerous exhaled operating theatres gases, will now be available across the Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg) and France. Customers will also benefit from installation support from BeaconMedaes as needed. In addition, Puramed will distribute the BeaconMedaes MedGasScan leak detection camera, which enables hospitals to identify and resolve medical gas leaks on the MGPS.
About the HDR
The HDR captures and processes volatile theatre drugs such as Sevoflurane, Desflurane and Isoflurane, which are used as anaesthetics for total sedation during invasive surgeries.
Huge quantities of exhaled anaesthetic gases are currently vented to atmosphere and have a huge environmental impact. The HDR addresses this by capturing the exhaled waste anaesthetic agents via the AGSS and putting them through a process of desorption and processing.
The HDR is compact and easy to install in the hospital plantroom. The virtually silent unit processes 99.99% of all captured gases gases in a passive, low-pressure environment and can serve up to 40 operating theatres.
Extending safety and sustainability
Puramed has extensive understanding of the Benelux and French healthcare markets. Combining this with BeaconMedaes’ exciting range of Sustainability Solutions opens the door for more hospitals to reduce their environmental impact in line with global targets and provide a safer environment for staff and patients without impacting on high levels of clinical care.
Paul Owen, BeaconMedaes National UK&I and Benelux Sales Manager – Sustainability Solutions, says: “BeaconMedaes UK is thrilled to partner with Puramed in delivering the Halogenated Drug Recovery (HDR) system to the Benelux region and France."
